Unearthing Solutions for our Soil, Health and Planet

WELCOME to the highly-anticipated virtual screening of Common Ground, a new documentary that provides hope for future generations with concrete ways to fix an ailing planetary system. The film explores how regenerative agriculture, and the indigenous practices it’s rooted in, can help heal the soil, our health and the planet, and features renowned figures such as Rosario Dawson, Laura Dern, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, Jason Momoa, Ian Somerhalder and farmer Gabe Brown.

By fusing journalistic expose’ with deeply personal stories from those on the front lines of the food movement, Common Ground unveils a dark web of money, power, and politics behind our broken food system. The film profiles a hopeful and uplifting movement of farmers who are using alternative “regenerative” models of agriculture that enhance soil health, biodiversity, and reduce carbon emissions, paving the way for an economically viable agricultural system and stable economy.

From the Director’s Statement: “If fixing some of the world’s most vexing problems through a new way of farming seems a tall order, consider this: farming is the primary way we interact with planetary ecosystems. Taken together, farms and ranches represent the largest biome on planet Earth (approximately 10 billion acres globally). Because of its vast scale, agriculture is the key to unlocking so many of the issues we face as a species today.

“Soils represent the largest single carbon sink on Planet Earth. Hence, studies indicate that a global transition to Net 0 (the point at which global carbon emissions are neutral) is achievable via regenerative agriculture. This does not absolve humanity of the need to decarbonize its energy systems, but it does buy us the one thing we currently do not have vis-a-vis climate change: time. We hope that Common Ground can play a central role in this global shift to regenerative agriculture so that we may become a carbon-neutral global society that feeds its people healthy, nutritious food.”
